Committee Reports The following reports and recommendations from committees will come before the Oamaru Borough Council to-night:— Finance.—Letters from the Government Life Insurance Department. Water.—Recommending that the engineer’s report on the borough water supply reticulation be printed and circulated to councillors. By-laws.—Recommending that the suggested by-laws submitted by the Health Department for the control of seating houses be received; that the question of removing the iron rail fence in front og the Town Hall be considered with the Library.—Recommending that plan A for the reconstruction of the library building be approved, and the architect authorised to prepare specifications and invite tenders. Works. —Recommending that the engineer’s report on Thames street footpath resealing be received and authority given for the purchase of 30 44-gallon drums of bituminous emulsion; that the engineer s recommendation that the stormwater drain at Friendly Bay be extended by 24 feet, and the weak angle under the tennis courts be effectively sealed off against any further lifting, be adopted, the estimated cost being £7O. Reserves.— Recommending that tne chairman and superintendent be empowered to havt felled from time to time any trees in the Gardens and Motor Camp which were considered dangerous; that as requested by the North Otago Sports Bodies’ Association no branch of sport be played on Reserve C until September 30, and that effective measures be taken to prevent the abuse of this and other sports reserves, in particular to prevent cycling and horse-riding; that the advice from the Post and Telegraph Department that it did not desire to accept any further liability for the payment of £55 per annum for the .maintenance of the terraced garden plots'at the rear of the Chief Post Office be received, and the superintendent notified accordingly. Baths.— Recommending that the offer of the Oamaru Amateur Swimming Club to provide £IOO for baths improvements be accepted with thanks.
