“RICH EXPERIENCE”
FIORDLAND EXPEDITION LEADER’S VIEW PA CHRISTCHURCH, May 16. Dr Olaus J. Murie, scientific leader of the Fiordland expedition, counts his experiences in the last few months among the richest in a career which has taken him into some of the leastknown places m the world. “There is an absorbing interest in .entering any unexplored country to join scientists in all fields making such a wide ecological survey as this,” he said in Christchurch this evening. The attractions of Fiordland for naturalists and other observers of wild life would probably interest more scientific parties, Dr Murie, said, but he did not think the ordinary tourist was ever likely to penetrate much beyond the fringes. There were many scenic beauties in more accessible parts of New Zealand.
