THROWN FROM HORSE

MAORI BROTHERS KILLED PA WHAKATANE, May 16. Two Maori brothers were killed at Onepu, between Te Teko and Rotorua, this afternoon when they were thrown from the horse on which they were both riding. They were Sydney Hape, aged 24, married, and Richard Hape, a schoolboy. While the b: others vver< on the horse it was approached by a road maintenance truck. The truck was moving slowly when the horse apparently took fright and rushed up a nearby bank. Before it reached the top it fell backwards, throwing the two riders, who received severe head injuries. In both cases death was almost instantaneous. The horse was also killed.
