DUNEDIN SAVINGS BANK LARGE SUM INVOLVED Grants totalling £4950 to many Dunedin organisations were decided upon at a meeting of the trustees of the Dunedin Savings Bank yesterday afternoon. Two grants of £IOOO each were the largest made. The complete list is:— £ University of Otago Scholarship Fund 1000 Selwyn College Students’ Hostel 1000 Dunedin Combined Orphanages Committee 300 Association of Combined City Bands .. .. 250 Otago Museum 250 Otago Tuberculosis Association 200 North-East Valley Kindergarten Committee 200 St. John Ambulance Association 200 Dunedin Returned Services’ Association (educational bursaries) 200 Otago and Southland War Amputees’ Association 150 St. Kilda Surf Life-saving Club 150 Citizens’ Day Nursery .. .. 100 Otago Early Settlers’ Association 100 Waikouaiti health camp executive 100 Navy League, Otago branch .. 100 Otago Model Engineering Society 100 Dunedin Returned Services’ Association (headstones for non-war graves) 100 Royal and Merchant Navy Club, Port Chalmers 75 Otago Beneficiaries and Old Folks’ Association 75 New ' Zealand League for the Hard of Hearing, Dunedin . branch 75 Otago ; Battalion of the Boys’ Brigade 75 Otago Surf Life-saving Association 50 Pre-school Education Centre .. 50 Ex-Royal Navalmen’s Association 50 Total .. .. £4950 A total of 114,698 gallons of whale oil, valued at £29,670, was exported from New Zealand last year. The total amount of tallow exported was 20,063 tons, of a value of £2,154,201. More than 34,000 cwt of pumice sand and stone, of a total value Of £10,189, were also exported.
