OAMARU HAS HIGHEST RAINFALL CENTRES IN OTAGO Oamaru. with 2.55 inches of rain, was the wettest centre in Otago during April, at which weather . data was taken by the Meteorological Office. Other figures were: Dunedin, 2.38 in; Waitaki Hydro-electric Station. 1.67 in; Balclutha, 1.19 in, Alexandra, 0.57 in. At the same time, it must be said for Oamaru that it recorded the highest total of sunshine. 1448 hours, which, compared with Alexandra’s 1343 hours and Dunedin’s 1092 hours, was most satisfactory. ' Days with rain were distributed as follows: —Oamaru 6, Alexandra 7, Waitaki 8, Balclutha 10, Dunedin 14. Only two stations reported temperatures. Alexandra recorded a high of 71.1 degrees and a low of 25.6 degrees, while Dunedin’s corresponding figures were 70.0 degrees and 33.0 degrees.
