PUBLIC NOTICES HEADLIGHT CHECKS Commencing immediately, an intensive drive will be conducted by enforcement officers of the Transport Department against motor vehicle lighting faults. It is proposed to issue all offenders with Traffic Offence Notices. Briefly, the Traffic Regulations require that every motor vehicle other than a motor cycle or trailer shall be equipped with: — (a) Two equal-powered head-lamps capable of clearly illuminating substantial objects 150 feet ahead and adjusted so that the centre of the main beam from each lamp while in normal position does not rise , above the horizontal and projects directly ahead or to the left. (b) One red tail-lamp visible 300 feet to rear and fitted at rear centri or to the right thereof. (c) The rear number-plate must be adequately illuminated by a white light not visible from the rear.
