Amalgamation of Clubs Proposed
The Tolaga Bay- Jockey Club decided t'.v propose amalgamation with the Poverty Bay Turf Club on the following basis:—(l) The Racing Conference to allot the Tolaga Bay permit to tire Poverty Bay Turf Club; (2) that 57 financial members of the Tolaga Bay Club be made financial members o-f the Poverty Bay Club for the current financial yearf (3) that from the accumulated funds of the Tolaga Bay Club, of £2OOO, the sum of £SOO be paid to the Poverty Bay Turf Club, the balance to be held in the meantime.
It was pointed out that the club no longer had rights over the course formerly used, because the property was repossessed by the East Coast Commissioner, who made an ex-gratia payment for improvements. Waiapu Club
The Waiapu Racing Club, on receipt of unofficial advice that, the club was unlikely to get a permit to hold meetings away from its own course, decided not to wind up its activities finally, but to discontinue racing in the meantime. They also decided that the club should not amalgamate or merge with the Poverty Bay Turf Club, and also that the funds be held in trust, loans to be made to Ruatoria sports bodies for up to five years at low interest rates,
