POPULATION FIGURES
. New Zealand’s mean population for 12 months, including Maoris, at December 31. 1948, was 1,841,424, an increase of more than 200,000 since 1938, states the Abstract of Statistics. The Maori population has shown a steady increase since 1938, the total now being 111,627, an increase of about 10,000 in .the last 10 years.
