FOOTBALL POOLS

NEW ZEALAND CONDITIONS UNSUITABLE PA WELLINGTON, May 12. Sherman’s Pools, Ltd., England, which is endeavouring to run summer pools based on Australian Soccer, made a similar approach to the New Zealand Football Association. Sherman’s, however, are apparently under a misapprehension regarding the manner in which New Zealand Soccer competitions are conducted, presumably thinking that home and away matches are played weekly between teams from the various parts of the Dominion. The New Zealand Football Association replied that it did not consider New Zealand Soccer competitions suitable for pool, purposes. The possibility of establishing Soccer pools in New Zealand had previously been discussed here, but the New Zealand administrators decided that they were not in the best interests of the game.
