Almeta Looks Well Placed at Amberley
Since being trained by J. Young, Almeta has been placed in three of her five starts, and she Impresses as one who is likely to win a race before the season is very much older. Prior to being taken over by Young, she won a double on the first day of the Westland meeting and if she reproduces that form she will •be a hard horse to beat in the Kowhai Trot at the Amberley meeting to-morrow. Among those she will meet will be Fire Brigade, who is on the same mark as she is. They met on similar terms at the Westland meeting, and Fire Brigade finished within a nose of her. Almeta is a four-year-old mare by Nelson Eddy from Bell Harvester, by Sonoma Harvester from Rainbow, by Harold Dillon from Stormlet, by Wildwood from Gertie, by Knight Errant. She is a half-sister to Rainstorm, who is by Frank Worthy. Almeta and Fire Brigade may dispute favouritism to-morrow. Answer to Correspondent F. D., Wakari.—Will obtain the information requested.
