MOSGIEL DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL

At a meeting of the committee of the Mosgiel .District High School it was reported that the playground had been topdressed and that two lights were to be installed. The Taieri Basketball Club had offered a donation towards the work. The meeting was attended by Messrs Duncan. Young, McLeod, Tourelle, Hasler and Mrs Doig. The Education Board advised that it had held over in the meantime the matter of improvements to the football playing area. The committee made a donation to the Taieri Swimming Club in addition to that given by the board. The secretary, Mrs Doig; reported that Nurse E. R. Barnes had replaced Nurse M. S. Harley at the dental clinic, Nurse Harley having resigned to be married. The dental report showed that 302 operations had been carried out during the month. The use of school grounds or rooms was granted to the Taieri Physical Culture Club, the Taieri Basketball Club, the Taieri Dramatic Society and an Adult Education group. It was decided to apply for a long service certificate on behalf of a former committee 'man, Mr E. J. Mason. Mrs Doig reported that the books and balance sheet had been returned from the auditors and that they had been found correct. There was a small credit in each account. A vote of thanks was accorded the secretary. It was decided to make an appeal in the district for funds to purchase a projector for the showing of educational films.
