ALL BLACKS’ VOYAGE From the NZPA Special Correspondent on board the Tamaroa. AT SEA, Apl. 17.
The All Blacks’ hope of a calm journey comparable with that of the New Zealand cricketers were dashed early on the voyage to South Africa. Billowy seas greeted the Tamaroa as it ploughed into the Tasman, and practically half of the team became victims of seasicknesses. Consequently, it was not till the fourth day out that the whole team was able to get down to serious training. N. H. Thornton and G. W. Delamore, who are both physical instructors, are in charge of the physical exercises. Many of the players are well over weight. In addition to the Selection Committee, consisting of Messrs J. H. Parker and A. McDonald, and F. R. Allen and R. A. Dalton, a Team Committee has also been appointed, consisting of the selectors and M. J. McHugh, R. R. Elvidge and H. ,F. Frazer. The Tamaroa is not expected to arrive at Fremantle until Sunday afternoon and she will leave again on the following day, Anzac Day. Plans for a match against Western Australia are unlikely to eventuate, but arrangements are being made for a practice run.
