FULL MILITARY AID

IRAQI ASSURANCE TO SYRIA

ZIONIST AGGRESSION Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Apl, 18. Iraq has assured Syria of full military aid in the event of aggression, says an official statement issued in Baghdad after the return of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Noyri el Said, from a visit to Damascus.

The statement said: “The Iraqi Government has been closely watching the Israeli-Syrian armistice negotiations lest the Jews take advantage of the recent coup d’etat in Syria to drive a hard bargain. Our Prime Minister flew to Damascus to assure Syria that any Zionist aggression would he considered as aggression against Iraq herself, and that the Iraqi army would at any time be ready to answer the call of brotherhood.”

A Damascus message says Colonel Husni Zaim, leader of the successful coup d’etat in Syrijj, has formed a new Cabinet, in which Colonel Zaim ’is Prime Minister and Minister of Defence and of the Interior.
