ALEXANDRA

RSA ANNUAL MEETING There was an excellent attendance at the annual meeting of the Alexandra branch of the RSA on Thursday night. Mr J. W. McArthur was in the chair. In his annual report the chairman referred to the great interest being shown in the affairs of the association in Alexandra. He accredited this to the monthly socials which had. proved very successful. He regretted the falling off in the Anzac Day parade attendance last year and hoped that there would be a better attendance this year. Office-bearers elected were—president, Mr B. M. Mooney; vice-presidents, Messrs C. J. Rooney and E. A. Hobbs (Clyde) and Mr C. J Davidson; secretary and treasurer, Mr O. Cantwell; auditor, Mr J, F. Jack; committee—Alexandra: Messrs J. W. McArthur, B. Provo, D. Blewett, J. R. McKissoek, W. McDonnell and W. J, Robertson. Clyde: Messrs C. Renton and H. Annan. Galloway: Mr A. Clearie. Fruitlands: Mr D. G. Gunn; Patriotic Committee representative, Mr C. J. Rooney; rehabilitation representative, Mr J. R McKissoek. The branch accepted an invitation to hold a church parade at St. Enoch’s Presbyterian Church on April 24, when a tablet in memory of the fallen will be dedicated.

FORRESTERS’ LODGE CONFERENCE The annual meeting of the Otago district AOF Lodges was held In Alexandra on Saturday, some 50 representatives being present from all over Otago and Southland. A welcome to the delegates was extended by the Mayor, Mr G. H. Fox, and the meeting was presided over by the district C.R.. Mr W. Feaver, of Invercargill. A social was held in the Clyde Town Hall in the evening, when a presentation of a certificate and regalia was made to the Immediate Past District Chief Ranger, Bro. M. E. Paul. On Sunday, the delegates were taken on bus excursion* CROQUET TOURNAMENT The Alexandra Ladies’ Croquet Club opened their annual Easter tournament on Good Friday morning under ideal conditions. Mrs A. E. Ruff, president, welcoming the visitors, said the entries were a record. Miss Wilson, vice-pre-sident of the Otago Ladies' Croquet Council, extended greetings, and Mr W A. Bodkin, MP, extended a welcome to the players on behalf of the district and declared the tournament open. CRICKET In a cricket match over the Easter period Alexandra had a win over Old Boys (Dunedin), Alexandra scoring 145 and Old Boys 136. Groves and St. John added to the interest of the game, Groves scoring 23, St. John 21 and Gwynne 25 not out.. Bowling for Alexandra Johns took five for 32 and Hinton two for 10. Batting for Alexandra Kyles scored 26, Johns 20, Gladstone 21 not out, and Groves bowling for Old Boys took nine for 80
