OVERCOME BY GASES

GARDENS DIRECTOR’S DEATH PA CHRISTCHURCH, Mar. 28. Overcome by gases while he was fumigating one of the propagating houses at the Botanic Gardens, the director of gardens and assistant direc tor of parks and reserves in Christchurch, Mr Brendan P. Mansfield, was found dead this morning. Mr Mansfield was taking advantage of the wet conditions last night to treat one of the houses with a gas preparatmn. He apparently remained too long in the house after the gas had been liberated, and was overcome.
