BOY FOUND DEAD INSIDE FATHER’S LUGGAGE TRUNK

Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Mar. 26. The police to-day found' a 10-year-old “missing” Lancashire boy dead inside his father’s army luggage trunk at his home. He was Michael Geldard who was last seen playing at home in the living room after lunch yesterday. That evening, his ex-commando father, Robert Geldard, reported the boy missing to the police, who with relatives and neighbours searched the district with bloodhounds. Early to* day detectives lifted the lid of the trunk, whose dimensions are four foot three inches by one foot seven inches by one foot four inches. They found the body of Michael who is four foot three inches tall. His legs were hunched up and his hands against his cheek as though asleep. There was nc sign of a struggle or injury. The police found the trunk not locked but it could not be opened from the inside. It is believed that Michael, who was away from school because of feeling off-colour, was playing a “ make believe ” game with the trunk after his mother had gone to work.
