WOMEN’S BASEBALL

The Otago women’s baseball team defeated Southland by 13 points to 1 to retain the Henderson Challenge Shield at Bathgate Park on Saturday. The match was played under adverse conditions. It was Southland’s first inter-provincial match for the season. H. Wallace scored Southland’s only run. For Otago, E. Jenkins pitched well and J. Parata batted strongly. E. Weddell hit a “ homer.” Tournament Results The winners of sections of the tournament held at Bathgate Park on Saturday .were: Section 1, Kiwi I; section 2, Albany: section 3, Warwick House; section 4, Jolly's.
