INTERNATIONAL RUGBY
NEXT YEAR’S CONFERENCE
MAY BE IN DOMINION
PA AUCKLAND, Mar. 27. A grand welcome was extended to all the delegates at the first meeting in London of the newly-constituted Rugby International Board by the chairman, Sir Percy Royd, of England, said Mr D. S. Max, who represented New Zealand at the conference and returned by air to Auckland to-day. Mr Max said he had had many interesting discussions with Mr Leon Rood, the South African delegate, on the tour of the All Blacks to South Africa. “ I impressed on Mr Rood that the All Blacks would have a good team,” said Mr Max, “and he was equally impressive about the Springboks.” Mr Rood said that the Springboks would field a very sound and strong all-round team. He was also certain that there would not be much trouble with the referees, and the All Blacks could expect more uniformity in their decisions. Mr Max said that there had been a lot of discussion on the interpretations of the rules of the game at the international conference. Recommendations had been made, and these would be sent to all the unions in the various countries for discussion. They would then be brought forward at the next meeting of the International Board. An invitation from New Zealand for the next international conference to be held in the Dominion next year had been favourably received and referred to the Home unions. Although no decision had yet been made, there was every likelihood of the conference being held here.
