Swollen Falls Made Grand Sight

Trampers in the Milford area last week-end were unfortunate in that exceptionally heavy rain caused streams and rivers to rise rapidly within a few hours. This made tramping unpleasant, but one member of a party which has just returned to Dunedin told the Daily Times that the view of the Sutherland Falls (1904 feet) was magnificent. In his opinion, the sight of the swollen falls was well worth the discomfort of wet clothes and wading waist deep through the streams. This photograph of the Sutherland Falls was taken last week-end. It gives an indication of the volume of water sweeping over the falls.
