DEATH OF MR D. 0. WILLIAMS PA WELLINGTON, Mar. 25. The death has occurred of Mr David Owen .Williams, a well-known economist and a former director of the Bank of New Zealand. At the time of his death he was a member of the staff of the Economic Stabilisation Commission. Born at Palmerston North in 1896, Mr Williams had a distinguished academic career, and his talents and advice were frequently availed of in investigations by Royal Commissions and other official committees. From 1925 to 1928 he was a lecturer at Victoria University College, and from 1928 to 1936 was on the staff of Massey Agricultural College. He served as adviser to the Monetary Committee which sat in 1934, and was also a member of the Dairy Industry Commission of the same year. He was also on the 1936-37 Guaranteed Price Committee, which was appointed to recommend the prices that should be paid to the dairy farmers.
