SOUTH SCHOOL

Mr J. D. Christie was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the Oamaru South School Committee. The Education Board advised that the question of a subsidy on the gymnastic mats purchased recently by the committee would be reviewed early in the next financial year. The research historian of the board wrote requesting information and details of primary school activities within the committee’s area during the first century of the province.—It was decided to consider the question at the next meeting. The headmaster reported that the roll stood at 334 pupils, with 17 in a special class. The resignation of Miss N. Thomas was accepted with regret.
