SUN FO’S SUCCESSOR
PRIME MINISTER OF CHINA “ PEACE-SEEKING ” GENERAL ' MENTIONED NANKING. Mar. 8. President Li Tsung-jen has asked General Ho Ying-chin to return to Nanking from Shanghai for urgent consultations following Dr Sun Fo’s resignation as Prime Minister of China. All the Nanking newspapers tipped the appointment of General Ho as the new Premier.
Dr Sun Fo has led the no-surrender group within the Chinese Nationalist Government. President Li Tsung-jen heads the group which is seeking peace talks with the Chinese Communists. The newspapers believe that the next Cabinet will be a peace Cabinet. In a report to the Legislative Yuan to-day, Dr Sun Fo said that General Ho had been appointed to organise a commission to carry out the reorganisation of the armies, reduding them for peace. Meanwhile, more than 2000 Communists are fiercely attacking Yichang, 30 miles east of Nanking, on the north bank of the Yangtse. Other Nationalist north bank bridgeheads are reported to be quiet.
