THIRTY-YEAR-OLD LAW PREFERRED

PA WELLINGTON, Mar. 9. “After 30 years of 6 o’clock closing the public has shown that they prefer it and do not wish to experiment with late closing hours,” said Mr Percy Coyle, director of the National Council of the Licensed Trade, to-night. “The licensed trade did not participate actively in the campaign for the extension of hours, preferring to leave it to the popular vote, which in a democratic country must be the only way to decide such an issue,” he added.
