DESIRE FOR PEACE IS MAIN THEME OF NEW RUSSIAN FILM

NZP A—Reuter—Copyright Reel 9 p.m. MOSCOW, Mar. 8. A new Soviet film, “Meeting on the Elbe,” which had its premiere last night, ends with the words: “Friendship between the Russian and American peoples is the most important question before humanity to-day.” The words are spoken by a young Red Army officer when he bids good-bye to the commandant of the American sector of an occupied German city after the American had been cashiered because of his friendship with the Soviet officer and through the intrigues of a woman employed by the American Government. The film in the next few weeks will be shown to over 1,000,000 Russians. Its main theme is that the American, Russian and German peoples do not want war.
