MRS HUDSON RECEIVES MINUTE OF APPRECIATION

The first Repertory Society social evening for 1949 was held last night in the Concert Chamber, with a large attendance of members and friends. During the evening Mrs Richard Hudson, who was the society’s first president, and remained in office for 15 years until her retirement last June, was presented with a minute of appreciation from the society. In making the presentation, Mrs Wakefield Holmes, the president, referred to the affection and esteem in which she was held by everyone with whom she w'as associated. Mr M. Joel, chairman of committee, spoke of Mrs Hudson’s ability and charm

and made reference to the life-member-ship conferred on her upon her retirement. Mrs Holmes also presented Mrs Hudson with a sheaf of gladioli. Three one-act plays were presented. These were: "Oranges and Lemons” (Morris), produced by Miss Kathleen Falconer, with Alma Johnsfon, Grace Washington, Sybil Westland, Beverley Pollock, Yvonne Lambourne, Lindsay Campbell, Kerry Lethaby and Harold Campbell in the cast. “ Not What They Seam ” (Syloar), produced by Mr Geoffrey Stephens. Those taking part were Margaret McLeod, Geoffrey Stephens, Derek Lever and Ron. Smith. “ Without End” (original play by Kathleen Healey), produced by Mrs Grace Douglas, with the following cast: Gwenyth Froude, Carol Douglas, Dick Reynolds, Lindsay Campbell, Maurice Izzard and Grace Douglas.
