A “FLARE UP”

The danger to cricketers of ‘having matches in their .pockets while playing, was shown at Waihola on Saturday when a Milton batsman w 7 as struck on the leg by a ball. After a gentle rub he shaped up to the next ball, but a puff of smoke was seen and he immediately dropped his bat and pulled from his pocket a box of matches which had been set alight. Fortunately the batsman was not burnt although, of course, the pocket was.
