BRADMAN’S LAST MATCH

APPEARANCE AT SYDNEY CRICKET GROUND Rec. 9 p.m: SYDNEY, Feb. 27. A crowd of 41,575 gathered at Sydney Cricket Ground to see Sir Donald Bradman bat in his last match here. He rewarded them with a bright 53 in 65 minutes before he mistimed a slow ball from Miller and was caught beautifully by Meuleman wide of mid-on. Arthur Morris scored the necessary nine runs to give him 1000 runs in the Australian season for the second time in his comparatively short career. With two days left for play in the Oldfield-Kippax testimonial match, Morris’s XI, with four wickets down, is 19 runs ahead of Hassett’s XI, so that Bradman may get another farewell innings in this match on the ground which has seen 22 of his 117 centuries in first class cricket. Moroney played a most impressive opening batsman’s innings. Scores:—Hassett’s XI: First innings, 204 (Hassett 73, Ring five for 49, Lindwall three for 27). Morris's XI: First innings, four for 294 (Morris 66, Bradman 53. Moroney not out 128).
