ARGENTINA FOREIGN TRADE
RETURNED TO PRIVATE BUSINESS BUENOS AIRES. Rec. 8 p.m. Feb. 26. Argentina has decided to return at least part of its foreign trade to private business after experimenting for three years with State monopoly. Dr Roberto Ares, announcing the curtailment of the Argentine Trade Promotion Institute, said its function would in future be confined to the buying needs for Government agencies, the control and sale abroad of the main Argentine farm product’s, and import for the public only of products difficult to handle commercially. A high Government official said the Government would buy everything possible for Britain and other European countries in order to avoid spending scarce dollars in the United States.
