INQUEST CONCLUDED

Overwhelming Infection The inquest touching the death on December 16, 1948, of William Francis Robinson, of Kurow. aged two years, was concluded yesterday afternoon before Mr H. C. Jeffery, J.P.. and a jury of four, Messrs T. Church, E. Morton, A. B. Kearns, and W. Woolstein. A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence. Mrs Robinson gave evidence of her child’s illness, and of calling in Dr Aitken.. of Kurow, who sent the child to the Oamaru Hospital, but the child was dead before reaching the hospital. Evidence was given by the father, who also said the child had appeared to have been in the best of health previously. Dr R. C. Melsom stated that a postmortem examination had been made, and in his opinion death' was due to a severe overwhelming .infection, most probably a fulminating septicaemia. •
