PROFESSIONAL OFFER TO LLOYD LA BEACH

Rec. 9 p.m. MELBOURNE. Feb. 2. Ken Moses, athletics correspondent of the Melbourne Sun, says the Panamanian sprinter, Lloyd La Beach, would have turned professional and competed in the Bendigo £IOOO next month for 5000 dollars, the equivalent of £1563 (Australian) but the club's offer was below this. The Bendigo £IOOO is a professional sprint event with a tradition going back into the old goldmining days. La Beach is quoted as being very disappointed that his price was not met and hopes to return to Australia as a professional later. The Jamaican. Herb McKenley. was also approached, but was not interested.
