(3) The final choice of can- ; didate in the electorate to which you refer was not made in Wellington. “ Daylight.” Oamaru.—The late Sir Thomas Sidey first introduced his Daylight Saving Bill before the House of Representatives in 1909. He persevered with the measure and was finally successful the Summer Time Act first becoming law in 1927, when on November 6 clocks were advanced one hour until March 4. 1923. In the next summer and in subsequent periods clocks were advanced only 30 minutes. Regulations issued In 1941, and reissued each year, provided for the continuance of summer time throughout the year, and in 1945 this change was made the subject of V permanent enactment.
