HIDES LEVY
INCREASES ANNOUNCED
PA WELLINGTON, Jan. 17. Overseas prices for ox and cow hides and calfskins continue to advance, according to a statement issued by the Hides Committee in Wellington. The levy rates are increased by 2d per lb on all ox and cow hides and lOd per lb on calfskins to operate on all hides and skins freed for export on and after January 24. The new schedule of levy rates is:— Freezer, abattoir and country butcher ox hides, all weights, 13s per lb; cow hides for same grades, 401 b and up 13d, and under 301 b, 15d; farmers’ standard ox and cow hides, all weights, lid per lb; calfskins, all grades and weights, 27d; bull hides and yearling hides, unchanged at 7d and 16q respectively.
