NINE OTAGO PLAYERS

SIDES FOR TRIAL GAMES

The teams for the trial matches for the selection of the New Zealand team for the tour of England have been chosen by the New Zealand selectors, Messrs J. L. Kerr, W. A. Hadlee, and W. M. Wallace. They were announced by the secretary of the New Zealand Cricket Council, Mr E. E. Luttrell, yesterday. Nine Otago players have been selected for the match at Christchurch. Eight of them are in the Major Associations’ team, and one player, G. H. Mills, the province’s regular wicketkeeper, will play in a South Island team chosen from major and minor associations. Two of the Otago players, D. M. Dunnet and I. W. Gallaway, both wicket-keepers in their respective club teams, have not played in shield cricket this season, but both have played in first-class cricket previously —Gallaway fqr Otago and Dunnet for Canterbury. ■ , There are also two wicket-keepers in the side to oppose the Major Associations’ team. They are Mills and G. S. Botting, of Nelson, who formerly played for Otago University. The teams are:—
