MR SOFOULIS RESIGNS

GOVERNMENT CRISIS IN . GREECE Rec. 10 p.m. ATHENS, Jan. 15. Mr Themistocles Sofoulis, the 88-year old Greek Prime Minister, handed his resignation to King Paul after an hour’s talk at the palace. The King accepted it and summoned a meeting of political leaders for to-morrow to try to find a way out of the crisis. Mr Sofoulis said he may later submit a note to the King on the situation The British United Press correspondent says the Government crisis is expected to be short-lived. The Foreign Minister, Mr Tsaldaris, conferred with leading members of the Opposition, Mr Venizelos Papandreou, and Mr Kanellopoulos, and reached a private agreement for forming a'new Cabinet. The King is expected to-morrow to call on them to form a Cabinet.
