THEFT CHARGES
TWO ACCUSED REMANDED
“ I have made a statement to the police and want to have it read,” exclaimed Charles Robert Sims, a carpenter’s labourer, aged 64, who was charged in the City Police Court on Saturday morning with the theft the previous day of a shaving set valued at £2 3s 6d. Chief Detective T. Y. Hall asked for a remand until Monday, the accused 1 interrupting him with the remark that I the statement he had made to the police should be read to the court. Mr Hill replied that it- was not necessary to read the statement at that stage. The remand applied for was granted by Messrs T. D. Jamieson and C. H. Kitchin. justices of the peace, bail being granted in his own recognisance of £lO and one surety of a similar amount. Theft of Camera Alleged Athol Hood Watson, labourer, aged 24 was charged with the theft of a camera valued at £95. the property of George Robert Wheatley. He was remanded until January 20.
