DEFENCE RIFLES

Fifth Championship Match

The Oamaru' Defence Rifle Club fired its fifth match of the championship series at the Federal range on Saturday. The match, which consisted of 10 shots at 600 yards, was fired under adverse conditions. Because of the high wind which dam'gaed the target, the practice match, which was to have been held after the match shoot, was abandoned. Results were:— Rflm. J. Gibson 4;. G. Allan 41. H. Boyer 38, N. Jones 38. Pres. L.' W. Neill 36, Rflm. W. Smith 36, N. Hicks 36, A. Hall 34. W. Youngman 33. W. Fallon 33, R. L. McLatchie 32. J. Temnero 29, R. Hay 28. W. Halkett 27. C. McGaughey 27, D. Moffitt 20. I, Swinard 18. A handicap sweepstake was fired in conjunction with this match, with G. Allan being the winner and J. Gibson and H. Bover second equal.
