Riccarton Horses Leave for Trentham
Special to the Daily Times CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 14. C. C. McCarthy will leave to-night with Helio, Julius Caesar, Limpid and Sequoia to race at the Wellington meeting. The first named three are engaged on the opening day, but Sequoia will be reserved for the second and third days. H. Nurse will go north to-night with Marut, a promising three-year-old with hack engagements at Trentham. R. B. Robinson will take the four-year-old Newspaper when he leaves to-night for Trentham. He is a four-year-old Paper Slipper gelding, a half-brother to Miss Medley. He looks well, having resumed recently after a spell since last season, when ne showed great speed in winning a race at Wingatui. C. G. Humphries came home this week for a short visit, but he returned north yesterday to look after his team at the Wellington meeting. He reported Royal Tan, Magnaform and Corofin as being well. They will be joined next week by Faithful Pal, Military Chief and Arctic Circle, who are booked to go north on Monday night. . , . .. . D P. Wilson arrived here last mght with two of his team and they will go north to-night to race at Trentham. They are the four-year-old Jan and the three-year-old Prawns, both by Salmagundi and owned by the Southland breeder, Mr A. Chisholm'. Each of them showed, winning form earlier in the season. The programme of Faithful Pal on the first day at Trentham is uncertain, as he is an acceptor for the Telegraph and Anniversary Handicaps. It is understood that A. J. Stokes will ride Full Play in thp Telegraph Handicap on the first day at Trentham. In addition to the acceptors for the first day Banshee, Arctic Circle and Sequoia are among the Riccarton horses booked to race on later days of the Wellington meeting.
