SEASON’S RETURNS
Provisional figures showing the receipts by the dairy industry of the country during the 1947-48 season indicate that £31.8 millions resulted from butter sales to the United Kingdom, £11.6 millions for cheese and £2.4 millions for other milk products. The grand total, taking into consideration sales within the Dominion, was £53.1 millions, as compared with £27.8 millions for the season 193637. The factory pay-outs to fanners totalled £40.5 millions, and £5.9 millions were retained in industry accounts, which had a credit at the end of the season of £12,600,000.
