TSible truth rjiHE APPROACHING STORM. “ Is God unrighteous Who taketh vengeance? God forbid; for then how shall God judge the world? ” The words of Paul above (Rom. ii, 5-6) presuppose the existence of a just and reasonable basis upon which God can and will “ judge ” or punish “ the world.” The manner of this “ judgment ” or " vengeance ” is clearly shown in the following prophecies: Isa. xxvi, 21—" The Lord cometh ... TO PUNISH THE INHABITANTS OF THE EARTH FOR THEIR INIQUITY.” Isa. xxx, 25-28 “ The day of the great slaughter . . . the name of the Lord cometh from far, burning with His anger . . full of indignation ... as a devouring fire ... to sift the nations.” Isa. xlii, 14-18—“ The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man ... He shall stir up jealousy like a man of war ... HE SHALL PREVAIL AGAINST HIS ENEMIES. ... I will destroy and devour at once.” Isa. lxvi 15-16—" The Lord will come with fire . : . to render his anger with fury, his rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slain of the Lord shall be many.” Ezek. xxxix, 6—“ I will send a fire . . . among them thaj. dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the Lord.” Zeoh. iii. 8—“ MY DETERMINATION IS TO GATHER THE NATIONS ... to pour UDon them mine indignation, even ALL MY FIERCE ANGER; for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.” Jer. xxv, 30-33—“ The Lord shall roar from on high . . . AGAINST ALL THE INHABITANTS OF THE EARTH ... to the ends of the earth; for the Lord hath a controversy with the nations He will plead with all flesh; He will give them that are wicked to the sword . . . and the slain of the Lord shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth.” 2 Thess. i, 7-9—“ The Lord Jesus shall be revealed .in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God. AND THAT OBEY NOT THE GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST: who shall be punished with EVERLASTING DESTRUCTION.” Divine proDhesy nictures an entirely different world to the one visualised by the' Utopian dreamers, who imagine a world made near perfect by the work of science and human political contrivances while the Wiv-d of God reveals a wicked world BROUGHT TO UTTER DESOLATION bv th° furv of its own wicjcedness, THEN pTTRTTrnrD bv Divine judgment?, and STRIPPED OF ALL HUMAN AUTHORITY AND POWER, and submitting to Divine authority onlv " when God’s judgments are in the earth.” (Ts= xxvi. 9-10.)
