WAR TOO EXPENSIVE

OPINION IN EUROPE PA WELLINGTON, Dec. 29. “In Germany, Belgium, France and Britain, too, I gathered that no country to-day could afford to be an aggressor,” said Mr E. M. Hanlon, Premier of Queensland, who arrived by the Hororata to-day after an extended visit to Britain and the Continent. “The people of the world have had enough of war. and they would not support an aggressive Government. If the position arose that you were attacked, that, of course, would be a horse of another colour.” Mr Hanlon will spend three weeks in New Zealand, travelling in both islands before leaving for Australia.
