NO INCREASES AUTHORISED IN HOTEL TARIFFS
' PA WELLINGTON, Dec. 23. A number of complaints have been ' received from the general public and associations interested in travel concerning increases made recently in "certain hotel tariffs by way of . extras. The president of the Price Tribunal. ■Judge Hunter, in a statement issued 'to-day, said that no increases had been authorised by the Price Tribunal, and -. the increases demanded constitute a 4 breach of the, Control of Prices Act, 1 1947. If the necessary evidence is . forthcoming, appropriate enforcement faction will be taken by the Price Control Division, he said. Referring to the general application from the hotel trade for increased tariffs. Judge Hunter said this is scheduled for public hearing by the tribunal as soon as the necessary information and accounts have been re- " ceived by the Price Control Division. This information was requested by the division from the hotels concerned a considerable time ago but had not yet s been submitted by many of them. The “'delay, therefore, was due to the non-••co-operation of the trade itself and mot the Price Control Division or the Price Tribunal, which was anxious to 'complete the matter as soon as 'possible.
