What Do the Stars Foretell in 1949?
Written for the Daily Times by “Anoni.”
The year 1949 will be influenced, astrologically, by the planets Mars and Mercury. In the present state of world affairs, this partnership implies an even keener continuation of oUr modern political antagonisms. Mercury, however, is a strong saving factor in the second half of the year. The following advice-forecasts are plain, straightforward reading for the average person; and, as such, they are not burdened with any unnecessary astrological allusions or phrasings.
For People Born in January Don’t rush to snatch at very attractive, easy-money propositions. They will melt away as you get “ warmer ” —or nearer—-to them. Especially during the first four months of the year. After then, your best financial prospects will slowly come along to you. By no means an unfavourable year for marriage if you are content to wait till. the early spring. And particularly, if you were born in the years between 1913 and 1923. An elder’s unexpected death, however, may prove a go-getting factor to a quickened wedding. February
You will most probably be drawn in fanciful, speculative risks, not necessarily of a financial nature. The risks you will be inclined to run are more likely to lead to personal accidents. Beware of inflammable and mysterious liquids; also electrical contraptions with which you are unfamiliar—and most curious about. Don’t climb mountains during holidays, or swim in deep waters unless you are exceptionally strong. And even so—never alone. March
A sudden business change may be offered to you. If refused, the offer will be changed by the influence of an ambitious, or far-seeing third party. Generally speaking, business changes should be good for you—particularly if engineered by yourself. But don’t attempt to partner business with romance. One of them will default badly. And you will be left to pay an overdraft that cannot be expressed in terms of money. Your most treacherous! months will be April, July and October. The rest should be progressively good. Or at least, easy going.
April Very possibly a rather tricky year. Don’t guess at things. Be your own ready reckoner all the time. Conditions that you thought were dormant or by now non-existent are likely to come up against you in the autumn. Wait for it calmly—with your chin up. If the threatening conditions pass you —as they may do—shake hands with yourself and polish your lucky mascot Calmost anything made of iron) with your best silk hanky. And continue to polish it until the end of May, when vour luck, good or bad, will change for the better.
May Your star portents are good; for those born between the tenth and nineteenth. exceptionally so. Good, or improved health, with advantageous changes, business or domestic, are well defined. Your main snag may be the interferences of relatives. If not that, then it will most probably be the loss of a very dear or influential friend. If single and thinking of marriage, fix it up with the parson during this, your birth month. It should be a lucky move on life’s chess board for you. Travel rather more than usual, preferably north or west. June
The ladies are foreshadowed to be luckier than their menfolk this year. For both sexes rather a hustle-bustle year. Many of you will find that some vivid past experience will help you out of an occasional tight corner. If you fancy the racehorses, try your luck on second and third favourites. But not too often. You will be luckiest in speculative things that you have made or originated yourself. Best months are April. June, September and October.
July Definitely a swing-boat year. During the first three months there may come broken or indifferent news that will cause hesitant going. Then later — quite suddenly—you will .find yourself in a hot-air period. Things will begin to hum, so- to speak. About June or July you will turn inventive or imaginative. If single, don’t rely on imagination. If married, stick to inventiveness. If widowed, stick to brass tacks. If you want to know what your best mascot will be this year—it will be money. Although your birth metal is silver, you will find gold a better substitute. All the year. August The first six months should be <iuite good, but in the seventh or eighth month some event or combination of circumstances will come along suddenly and most unexpectedly to divert your normal course of life into channels strange or foreign. At first, you will be disconcerted, discouraged. But sail doggedly on, and before December winds do blow (your little ship will be carrying a better cargo. Don’t be afraid of adventure or reasonable risks. Over-caution will be no asset, anyway. The best remunerative birthdates will be the third, eighth, thirteenth, twenty-second ana twenty- • sixth.
September Delay will be the keynote of your year. Some delays wil be fortunate for you and the reverse for your rivals. Also your flighty acquaintances. Generally, you' should be more ready to create delay than to prevent it. Delays will give you time to look where you are going—and why. Stubborn, awkward love affairs will be a tonic for you. They will save you from rash decisions. Delayed money will be better spent when you get it. If you rush about, you will get to the wrong spots—and have to wait longer still to reach the right ones. Tricky birthdates—seventh, sixteenth, twentythird and twenty-ninth. October
If you are in any normal personal or business partnership, your partner will be the one to produce an unexpected profit. So hang well to those who are co-operating with you. This should be a particularly favourable year for contacting influential people; especially such as are connected with group organisations, clubs, etc. Relatives will aid you to a reasonable extent, but if you go beyond that, they will want your help later. If you handle one big profit or deal, do not try for a second—or the first will slip through your fingers before the other is born. November
Very probably a swift and rather erratic year ahead. If you plan too far into the future. 10 to 1 your plans will never materialise—anyway, not this year. Plan as little as possible —and then only for what can be proven within a few days. You will get both good and bad surprises. Do not allow them to make you jumpy. Keep static. For the singles there is
a strong likelihood of some unconventional attachment. And for the married —a detachment, probably temporary, possibly compulsory. Luckiest starred birth-dates—tenth to nineteenth and twenty-fourth to thirtieth. December
Avoid additional responsibilities this year if at all possible. If you do, light-heartedly, accept such extra weights to your normal pendulum, ypu will be asking for straight troubles or crooked disappointments. Brighten your life instead by seeking new places, faces and paces. Keep going; do not stop to lok back at what the one behind you may have —he will probably snaffle that which was coming well for you. A good year for travel, provided it is not of the helterskelter variety. (But do not undertake unusual journeys during March and October.) Travel preferably direct east or west. And accompanied.
