Doubtful Conditions For Christmas Angling
If the present weather conditions continue over the Christmas holidays, prospects for anglers in the North Otago district will be far from good. The Waitaki is at present high and dirty, with debris coming down from the back country. The river was still rising on Wednesday night and will be unfishable at the week-end. No reports have been received from the Upper Waitaki or Ahuriri. The Hakataramea is in good order and is the most likely destination for the majority of anglers over Christmas. Several good bags have been taken recently. The Kakanui is extremely low and will not improve until a good rainfall has been registered.
