Holiday Arrangements for Waterfront
SHIPPING
Only one ship, the Waipiata, from Bluff, is due to arrive in Dunedin today, but there should be another busy period on the waterfront after the holidays. The men will stop work' at noon to-day unless there is any ship which may reasonably be cleared by 5 p.m. They will begin again on Wednesday and work until noon on Friday, when a similar holiday period will be observed.
From Tuesday next ships should be arriving regularly until the end of January. Many of these will be loading wool. The Ramon de Larrinaga sailed for Wellington late yesterday afternoon after discharging under the New Zealand Shipping Company’s agency. She has been taken over by the Bank line, and after bunkering at Wellington, will sail for Nauru Island to load phosphate for the British Phosphate Commissioners. The Vinland is due on Tuesday direct from Nova Scotia, with a load of newsprint. The Buccinium berthed at the oil wharf yesterday morning and discharged bulk Diesel oil. She is due to leave to-day for the United States.
