BUTTER QUALITY
Sir,—ln reply to a letter from “ Housewife," which appeared in the Daily Times on December 18, we have investigated tn<* matter and on interviewing “ Housewife ” find, from the code numbers taken from the wrappers, that the butter which was the subject of complaint was manufactured on October 20, and our records show that the butter left our factory on October • 22. It will, therefore, be seen that the butter was approximately eight weeks old when purchased by the consumer. ■ . All our butter is Government graded, and it has always been our policy to put the best possible article on the market. We are at all times only too willing, to investigate any complaint with a view to finding and rectifying the cause. It should be understood that s.orage is an important factor in maintaining butter in first-class condition, and we do not consider that housewives should be offered butter eight weeks old. No butter which has been patted; for more than three days is delivered’ from our am, etc., Manager, Co-operative Dairy Co. of Otago., Ltd.
