First Church Choir Sings “The Nativity”

There was a large congregation at First Church last evening, when the choir sang the cantata “ The Nativity,” by the modern English composer, Eric Thiman. This proved to be an intex - esting work, and expressed in a most effective manner the Christmas story. A feature of the cantata is the use made of unaccompanied German chorales which, along with the writing of the composer, make it an outstanding work. The choir rendered its part of the cantata with effective tone and expression. The soloists were Miss Dawn Ashton and Mr Robin Gordon, both of whom were in fine voice. Mr George Wilkinson was the organ.
