FALSE PRICES

DISASTER PREDICTED GOVERNMENT’S INFLATIONARY POLICY PA CHRISTCHURCH. Dec. 15. “Wool has gone to an unheard-of price in Christchurch to-day, and it is bad for New "Zealand that we should have false prices/* said Mr S. G. Hoiland, Leader of the Opposition, in an address this evening. The inflationary policy of the Government had made those false values possible and had built up income to a level which could only spell disaster when normal times returned, said Mr Holland. Nobody had dreamt of 81d per lb being realised for wool. The Government made up the difference between the upset price and the prices obtained, he said. That difference came from taxation. That was why prices were so high. Local mills could buy all the wool they wanted at high values, and the Government made up . the difference.
