CATTLE DYING
DROUGHT IN QUEENSLAND Rec. 8 p.m. BRISBANE. Nov. 1. Drought is killing tens of thousands of sheep and cattle in Central and North-Western Queensland. In the north-west 30,000 square miles of country, which normally carries 50,000 cattle, is practically waterless and cattle are dying in increasing numbers. Clio Station alone has lost 10,000 lambs. Big flocks of sheep on the stock routes leading south are eating-fodder so rapidly that it will soon be impossible to move more sheep along the routes. More than 116,000 gallons of water are being carried thousands of miles a day by train to the drought-stricken areas, and already 500,000 sheep have been transferred from North-West to South-West Queensland add New Soutli Wales.
