HOLIDAY FOR MAYOR

VISIT TO AUSTRALIA LEAVE OF ABSENCE GRANTED The Mayor, Sir Donald Cameron, was granted six weeks’ leave of absence by the City Council last night to enable him to visit Australia. Sir Donald will leave Dunedin in the first week in December, and will return here on January 20 in time for the first meeting of the council in the New Year. He will be present at one meeting of the council before his departure. The Deputy Mayor, Cr L. M. Wright, has agreed to officiate in Sir Donald’s absence. Sir Donald said that Lady Cameron would not accompany him on this visit, but would take a long holiday in Australia after the royal tour. Moving a formal motion that the leave of absence be granted, Cr Tav- i erner expressed the hope that Sir Donald would have a pleasant holiday: he had certainly earned it. Crs Barr, Hayward, E. J. Anderson. N. D. Anderson, Jolly, Barnes, Sidey, Armifage, and Smith were also present at the meeting.
