Trawler’s Maiden Voyage

After a trial run to Dunedin on Friday, and the shipping of a trawl at Port Chalmers over the week-end, the largest wooden trawler built at Port Chalmers, the 60ft long Jason, will leave the port this morning to begin fishing. The trawler was launched at Port Chalmers on July 21 from Miller and Tunnage’s yards for Mr D. R. Miller. The craft is of particularly heavy construction, and has a draught of 7ft 6in with a 14ft beam. The Jason was to have been equipped with a freezer, but this has been left out in the meantime.
